Community Guidelines

Purpose

The ALAS Member Site exists to connect educators, leaders, and partners who share a commitment to improving education through collaboration, innovation, and learning. This space is built on trust, respect, and curiosity.

We ask all participants to uphold these values in every conversation, post, and course interaction.

Community Values

  • Be Kind and Respectful. Treat others as you would a valued colleague. Disagreement is welcome—disrespect is not.
  • Stay Constructive. Focus on ideas, not individuals. Offer feedback that helps others grow and learn.
  • Assume Positive Intent. We’re all here to make education better. Approach discussions with empathy and patience.
  • Protect Privacy. Never share confidential student, staff, or organizational information. Respect the privacy of others.
  • Be Inclusive. We welcome diverse experiences, backgrounds, and viewpoints. Strive to make everyone feel they belong.
  • Keep it Professional. Use language, tone, and content appropriate for a professional educational setting.
  • Share to Support Learning. Offer insights, tools, and stories that help others teach, lead, and innovate more effectively.

Forum and Course Guidelines

  • Use clear, respectful language in discussions and replies.
  • Avoid personal attacks, inflammatory comments, or divisive topics unrelated to education or professional learning.
  • Credit others for their ideas and materials when referenced or shared.
  • Report inappropriate behavior or content to moderators using the provided reporting tools.

Enforcement

The ALAS moderation team reserves the right to:

  • Remove posts or comments that violate this Code of Conduct.
  • Issue warnings or restrict access for repeated or severe violations.
  • Suspend or remove community members who do not uphold the shared values of this space.
